EN : Food in Australia

Food in Australia

I’m in the Queensland (north-east of Australia) and I’m writing an article on food in Australia. Habits can vary from state to state.

In Australia, for breakfast, I eat cereals, pancackes and toasts with chocolate. Australian people eat bacon with bread, eggs and beans or pancakes.

In the bakery, you find hot and cold drinks, pastry, buns and bread. The bread is sliced bread, it  can be made of wholemeal, multigrain, or plain wheat.

For lunch, I eat salad, sandwiches, pasta and rice.
Australians eat generally meat like beef, chicken, pork or kangaroos.

Here in the Queensland, Australians eat a lot of beef because they have cattles, they love barbecus : BBQ.
The butcher can prepare private beasts, dog bones and pet mince.

You can also find some salted water and fresh water fish like spanish makerel or barramundi. They are both very good fishes for Fish & Chips.

For the dinner,  I can eat a burger with french fries, fish and chips, lasagne, fried rice and delicious barbecues.
Australians also like pies and fried food for dinner and lunch.

For the dessert, Australian eat ice cream and cakes. They also enjoy cheesecakes, muffins and waffles.

In the supermarkets, you can buy fried food and pastry to take away. There is also cereals, bread, meat, ice pack, drinks, cakes…and all the things that you can find in France in a supermarket. But there is especially a lot of « light » food.

Australian like eating or drinking in the cafe or pub. You can find lunch and breakfast, drinks and ice cream.

Contrary to France, Australian people have a specialized store for alcohol.
You must have an ID and you must be major. The price of alcohol is very expensive. You can find beer, wine, liquor and champagne.

My favourite meal is cheese burger with french fries and chocolate ice cream for the dessert!
